Bluff is a great place to unplug, unpack, unwind and explore the best of the Four Corners area. Bluff is the closest community to Bears Ears National Monument and home to the Bears Ears Education Center. Monument Valley is less than 1 hour away. Nearby, find jaw-dropping attractions such as the Goosenecks State Park, Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway and Muley Point, Natural Bridges National Monument, and Hovenweep National Monument.
Plan a rafting trip down the San Juan River. As you float through the spectacular canyons the San Juan has carved from ancient sandstone, don’t be surprised if you unwind, feel better and lose that nagging feeling to check email. In 1880, Bluff was settled by Mormon pioneers. Experience their epic Hole in the Rock expedition and glimpse early pioneer life at the Bluff Fort historic site. In later, more prosperous years, the pioneers built fine Victorian homes, many of which have been carefully restored in the Bluff Historic District.
The culture of the Navajo people is woven into Bluff’s eclectic style. Visit Bluff and discover the meaning of the Navajo word, “Hozho”. It is loosely translated as peace, balance, and beauty. To be in hozho is to be at one with and a part of the world around you.

The Bears Ears Education Center provides visitors with information on where to go and what to see in Bears Ears National Monument and surrounding areas. Learn tips on how to ‘Visit with Respect’ to protect and preserve the important natural and cultural landscape of southeast Utah.
